Xavi Simons appears to be the top-trending name ahead of the summer transfer window as the race to sign the PSG star looms up.
Barcelona seems to be the favorite to bring Simons back on loan, with the Dutchman also reportedly eager to return to his boyhood club.
However, the latest news from Sky Sport in Germany is that the 21-year-old is also a target for the Bundesliga giant Bayern Munich, who already have him on their shopping list for the next campaign.
Yet a transfer to the Allianz Arena seems unlikely for a number of reasons: the Bavarians haven’t been able to fill the vacant managerial position since parting ways with manager Thomas Tuchel.
The player’s parent club [PSG] might want to shuffle their squad around with Simons in the mix; already, Mbappe has announced he’s leaving by the end of the 23/24 campaign.
Moreover, Xavi’s current club Leipzig would also fancy keeping him for next season to see if they could advance beyond the round of 16 in the champions league and maybe push for the league title and bring more surprises to the German Bundesliga, just as Bayer Leverkusen did.
Barcelona is also another threat to Bayern, considering the midfielder has a root in Catalan, has played in the academy, has family in Catalunya, and is nicknamed after Xavi Hernandez by his parents.

Is Xavi Simons worth the noise?
Well, if you’re ignorant about the recent rush for the former La Masia gem, then you simply don’t follow up on the Bundesliga. Simons has created for himself enviable stats since joining Leipzig at the beginning of the 2023–24 season.
The midfielder has played 32 matches in the course of his career in the German League. Of these, he won 19, netted eight times, and provided 11 assists! Which is the second-most in the league together with Leroy Sané (FC Bayern München), Julian Brandt (Borussia Dortmund), and Florian Wirtz (Bayer 04 Leverkusen).
Simons’ future has been the subject of speculation for a while, and it’s thought PSG may be willing to sanction a loan but not a permanent transfer.
