Xavi Simons, in a new report, is set to inform Paris Saint-Germain that he wants to be loaned to his boyhood club FC Barcelona this summer.

Mundo Deportivo confirmed that the 21-year-old midfielder has made up his mind and will push for a return to the Spotify Camp Nou ahead of the 2024โ€“25 season.

Speculation about Simon’s future has grown in recent weeks, and that’s because of his superb performance so far this season for RB Leipzig.

Since joining the Bundesliga side in the 2023/24 campaign, Xavi Simons has made 31 appearances, scored 7 goals, and provided 11 assists, which is the second-most assists in the league together with Leroy Sanรฉ (FC Bayern Mรผnchen), Julian Brandt (Borussia Dortmund), and Florian Wirtz (Bayer 04 Leverkusen).

Xavi Simon’s chances of rejoining FC Barcelona (a club he played for from 2010 to 2019) seem positive, as the youngster is said to have a clause in his contract that allows him to choose which club he moves to if he goes out on loan again.

The midfielder, who is still with RB Leipzig, is set to return to PSG for talks about his future. When questioned about Simons over the weekend, PSG manager Luis Enrique declined to comment on the young player, stating, “My policy is not to discuss players who are not currently with the team. He is on loan.”

Barcelona reportedly aims to secure Simons on a season-long loan, but PSG’s stance on the matter remains unclear.
