Manchester City star Bernardo Silva reportedly has a release clause in his contract that could facilitate a transfer to FC Barcelona, according to Mundo Deportivo
Silva has been Barça’s white whale for the past few seasons. In 2022, a move for the Portuguese winger wasn’t possible due to the club’s financial situation.
This season, Barca had even less cash to spend, which led to Silva renewing his terms at the Etihad until 2026.
According to MD, however, the forward known for his versatility on the field made sure that a 50 million euro release clause was inserted into the deal.
In addition, he asked that such a clause could be paid in three installments of $19.5 million.
Those moves could ease Barcelona’s troubles in landing the pacy little man of City, whom they think of as God’s own cousin.
Moreover, there’s also the possibility of Barça returning to the so-called “one-to-one” rule, which basically means they could spend every euro they save or earn. At the moment, La Liga requires Barcelona to save or earn four euros for every extra euro they would like to spend.
As you can see, the Catalan giant has everything almost sorted out; it remains to be seen if the new manager, Hansi Flick, is also a fan of Bernardo Silva.
