Barcelona midfielder, Ivan Rakitic is rumored to be in talks with Italian giants, Inter Milan over a possible move after dropping out of the starting 11 of head coach, Ernesto Valverde since the start of the season after the arrival of Frankie Dejong.
Reports have it that Inter Milan are offering to pay 38m Euros for the Croatian assistant captain in the coming summer with Barcelona opening their doors for negotiations as the player seems surplus to requirements.
The Croatian midfielder recently said in an interview that if his condition at the club continues like this without much playing time, he might have to consider leaving the club, now with Inter Milan showing interest in the player, it looks likely that the player is contemplating on leaving the Catalan club.
The 31 year old midfielder has only started one match for Barcelona this season and playing less than three hours of football in all competitions. In the past two seasons, Rakitic was one of the top three most used players by Valverde.
Manchester United and Paris Saint Germain (PSG) have also joined Inter Milan in the tussle to employ the service the player into their midfield but Inter Milan seems to be leading the chase.
Recall that since the arrival of Dutch player and former Ajax midfielder, Frankie Dejong, Rakitic has fallen completely out of favor from Valverde as Dejong has been impressive since his arrival along with Arthur and Busquets holding down the midfielder.
A reporter last season asked Rakitic if he was feeling threatened by the possible arrival of Dejong, Rakitic said Dejong was not coming for his position but with the present situation, the reverse seems to be the case.
Speculations also have it that Inter Milan want to employ the services of both Rakitic and Arturo Vidal for next season but Barcelona want striker, Lautaro Martinez in exchange for the transfer.
Barcelona signed Ivan Rakitic from Sevilla 5 years ago for 20m Euros and has so far scored 37 goals in 284 games.
With Rakitic’s present status quo at the club and falling out of favor from the coach, one would expect to see Rakitic leave the club at the end of this season.
