News coming out of Spain, have claimed that Spanish giants, Barcelona Futbol Club has sacked head coach, Ernesto Valverde after days of his reported sacking and replaced with fellow Spaniard and former Real Betis coach, Setien Enrique.

Reliable sources from Camp Nou claimed that Barcelona has said goodbye to Valverde this evening but the board according to reports is waiting to finalize the agreement with incoming coach, Enrique Setien before making the announcement public.

Valverde came under heavy criticism after losing to rival team, Atletico Madrid last week in the Spanish Super Cup which made Barcelona fans call for his sack.

Recall that 55 year old Valverde joined Barcelona on May 29, 2017 after replacing Luis Enrique. Valverde in his first season went 29 games unbeaten in all competitions. He also went unbeaten in 43 league games before losing 4 – 5 to Levante.

The former Valencia and Athletic Bilbao coach became the enemy of Barcelona fans in his first season at the club after losing surprisingly to Roma in the quarterfinal of the UEFA Champions League after winning 4 – 1 in first leg.

In 2018, he also lost to Liverpool at Anfield after going up 3 – 0 in the first leg of same competition. Those two defeats left bitter tastes in the mouth of fans and no matter what he does, all Barcelona fans want is to see him sacked.

With the news of his sacking, Barcelona fans seem to be relieved with the incoming signing of Setien who once coached Las Palmas and Real Betis.

Many Barcelona handles on Twitter have reported the sacking and below are some of the tweets reporting the news:
