News coming out of Spain has reported that Spanish Champions, Barcelona earned more money than Liverpool and Tottenham in the last season’s UEFA Champions League competition despite crashing out in the semifinal.
Recall that Barcelona was surprisingly eliminated in the semifinal of the prestigious competition by Liverpool on a 4 – 3 aggregate, before going on to win the trophy. Tottenham were also another finalist who beat Ajax Amsterdam of Holland to make the final.
As usual, finalists are expected to earn more than semifinalists of every competition but the latest news coming out of Spain has claimed that for the first time in the history of the competition, Barcelona earned more than Liverpool.
According to reports, Barcelona earned a total of 117m Euros, Liverpool were second with 111m Euros and Tottenham came third on the earning list with 101m Euro.
Fans are said to be demanding for an explanation on how the money was shared that will see a semifinalist earn more than a finalist.
However, football expert are saying why such was witnessed is because Barcelona has a better market value than Liverpool.
It will be remembered that Liverpool beat Tottenham in the final of the competition with goals from Mo Salah and Origi.
