Catalan Giants, Barcelona were held to 2-2 draw my Real Sociedad, in a really exciting encounter at the Anoeta stadium. Both sides came into the match looking to continue with their impressive run of recent, no doubt they would  be glad to share the spoils as the title race heats on.

Barcelona started the match on a backfoot, going down in the early moments of the match, Sociedad mounted intense pressure on Barca half, and it finally paid off, when a corner kick was taken by Sociedad’s Oyarzabal, goalkeeper, Ter Stegen rushed out to punch it clear but was nowhere near it, however it was Busquets foul on Llorente that prompted the ref to point to the spot for a penalty.

Oyarzabal, gladly came up and despatched the penalty kick, Barca thus, continued with their dismal away form. Rakitic who was handed his six straight start went missing for large periods of the match, he could only muster one accurate cross all evening with zero key passes.

For Sergio Busquets, perhaps was uncharacteristically poor, although he grew into the match as it went on. Barca went in search of an equaliser and got one in the 37th minute,  after a great run down the pitch with the ball which saw Griezmann beat the home defence and confidently chipped the ball past the keeper and in to the net at the far post.

Both sides went into the dressing room level, second half began with Barca on the front foot, with Messi providing the assist for Suarez to score, granting Barca the lead for the first time in the match and Gerard Pique also came close with his header which was cleared off the goal touchline by a defender. The celebration was short-lived as Sociedad equalised 11minutes later with a goal from Alexander Isak.

Afterwards. it became a dilly -dally but both sides had to make do with a point in a match which saw Barcelona star, Lionel Messi very silent for the evening and only contributing an asist to Suarez and aside that, the Argentine was silent all through the game.

The Barcelona squad and fans across the world look forward to the El-Classico against Real Madrid in an encounter which promises to be breath taking and interesting.

Barca are still top of the table until Madrid and Valencia lock horns tommorow.
