Reports coming out of Spain have it that Spanish Champions, Barcelona Futbol Club are set to sack head coach, Ernesto Valverde and replace him with former club player, Xavi Hernandez.
After yesterday night’s surprising loss to Atletico Madrid, there have been reports that the Barcelona board will meet next week Monday to discuss the possible sack of Valverde as coach.
According to Rac1, club’s Technical director and former defender, Eric Abidal is presently in Qatar where he is meeting with Xavi on a possible return to Barcelona as head coach.
Barcelona fans have been calling for the sack of Valverde as coach. According to them, he has turned Barcelona into a fearless and an unreliable team in Spain and Europe at large.
It all started after losing in the quarter final of the Champions League to Roma in 2018, followed by elimination in the semifinal to Liverpool and since then, fans have been calling for his sack but the board and players have been showing their support for the coach.
Over the weekend, Barcelona played a surprising 2 -2 draw in a Catalan derby against bottom placed Espanyol and yesterday night in the Spanish Super Cup, the team lost to an out of form Atletico Madrid in a game that looked like Barcelona already had in the bag with the Madrid team winning 3 – 2.
If the news of the possible sack of Valverde is anything to go by, then Barcelona fans should be expecting to have Xavi Harnandez as new head coach by next week.

I don't really know how I feel about this Xavi news. I don't know wether I should be excited or worried. Xavi was an excellent player who knew how to read the game very well. But it takes a lot to transfer what you know to others. Why are we not talking about Eric Ten Hag? pic.twitter.com/XE0QyqnRH7
