Barcelona ended the year playing against Deportivo Alaves at the Camp Nou which ended 4 – 1 in favor of the home team with goals coming from Messi, Suarez, Griezmann and Vidal. The Catalan team also ended the half of the season as league leaders.
The Spanish champions played a total of 28 games at home in all competitions, winning 24 of the game, with 17 wins in the league, 5 in the UEFA Champions League and 2 wins in the Copa Del Rey, and getting 4 draws. The last time Barcelona lost at home was against Real Betis in the La Liga where they lost 4 – 3 in November, 2018.
Furthermore, the biggest win recorded at the Camp Nou for 2019 came against Sevilla, in a 6 – 1 win. Also, Barcelona hit the woodwork of the post 13 times at the stadium.
2019 makes it the 7th time Barcelona will be going undefeated at the Camp Nou stadium, the other seasons were in 1957, 1959, 1968, 1974, 1975 and 2011. For two consecutive years in 1974 and 1975, Barcelona never lost at home to any team in all competitions.
Barcelona was awarded 11 penalties at the stadium in 2019 and in total, 23 teams visited the Camp Nou, none of them defeated Barcelona at the stadium. In the year 2019, Barcelona’s Valverde scored a total of 80 goals, conceding 20 goals in the process.
Lionel Messi’s goal against Alaves saw the Barcelona Captain record his 50th goal of the year 2019. The 50th goal means Messi has scored 50 or more goals in 9 different years. The only year Messi failed to score 50 goals or more was in 2013, when he scored only 45 goals.
